Future of Live Chat - What are the Possibilities?

It all started off with a need for Online Customer Support. Today it's Live Text Chat - what will it be tomorrow? Or the day after?

Availability of Text Chat with a Live Chat Agent on websites is showing steady growth and, Forrester Research Inc. estimates, acceptance of Live Chat will grow to 59% of online buyers in 2007 when "chatting teens grow up". As Live Chat grows vertically, it will start expanding sideways and explore other linked technologies.

Live Voice Chat can be the next step in the expansion of technical possibilities in the area of Online Customer Support. Just as technologies like Voice Over IP (VOIP) become more common, Live Text Chat will naturally move towards the more technically advanced solution - Live Voice Chat. This is a technology that is being experimented with but has not surfaced because of bandwidth constraints.

As technology becomes more accessible to the public, Live Video Chat on websites for Online Customer Support may be the next stage to look at. Imagine going to a car dealer's website and a Live Chat Agent greets you with, "How may I help you?” You reply that you are looking for a used 2006 Nissan Altima. The Live Chat Agent, with the click of a button, moves the camera to the actual place where the car is parked and while asking you for contact details so that a consultant can call you - zooms in on the tires so you can have a look at how used the tires are.

Envision the opportunities that technology advancement has to offer, and exploit them, without losing the personal touch in your website. What could be next? Physical Stimulation, Holograms, Simulations ... The possibilities of growth are endless here.
