    I think that 2006 will be the year that the mobile phone will make great strides as a local marketing tool.

    Early adopters have been using the mobile phone’s Internet access and browsing features for some time, but as the web access is built into lower end phones and search engines all make deals with the phone service providers, the world of mobile search and advertising will heat up.

    Movie reviews, maps, menus, store locations, hours of operation and the like will all be one click away on millions of mobile phones. Pay per click and pay per call advertising for local businesses are a natural. Surf for some Thai, click on an ad and your phone automatically connects to the take-out desk.
