I've tried Basecamp, but it just didn't click with me. I perefer tools that have project management features to of chatting tools. Anyway, I found this tool, called Wrike http://www.wrike.com/, I'm sure you've heard of it already. I started to use it for managing my projects, than involved my other activities in Wrike. It turned out I can use it for CRM too. The tool is e-mail integrated, so my clients are very happy not to adjust to any complex PM app interfaces.

Here is a system similar to basecamp that has been very easy for my clients to use: OnStage. They also have a basic CRM feature that can be used pre-sales.

This is a really great tip John. When I ran my first startup (a marketing consultancy) before I had heard of Basecamp we used a Microsoft solution. Our clients gave us excellent feedback and we even let them check the status of projects but it was painful for us to use on the backend. Basecamp is really an ideal solution.

I'm a huge fan of BaseCamp too. I hadn't thought of using it in a pre-sales way. One of the big problems I have is in getting clients to use it (or even log on in the first place when their emails get spam filtered). Do you have any tips in this regard?

Readers might also be interested in some of the other Web 2.0 apps that I use in my business daily.
