    WordPress Small Business Blog Theme

Consider subscribing to my blog's RSS feed. It's sticky

The folks at WordPress have convinced me to make the switch to the WordPress blogging platform and everything should be ready to migrate very shortly. (Just a few bugs to work through.)

In collaboration with Cory Miller, a talented WordPress theme design, and in anticipation of my move to WordPress as my blogging platform, I’m releasing a new free WordPress theme specifically tailored for small businesses looking at starting a blog.

We’re calling it the Duct Tape Business Blog theme.

Here are some of the key features:
    * Three column layout
    * Newspaper and magazine Web 2.0 feel
    * Widget ready
    * Sample ads ready for your products and services

Take the theme for a test run here.
    Download the theme here.

      Angela,

Aw shucks it was nothing - actually most of the credit goes to Cory Miller - I was more like a consultant on the project!

      John and Cory,

Great layout. I have been looking for a flexible 3 colomn layout since I’ve been blogging (1 month:-)). I too, may be moving to Wordpress so I will check it out. John, I enjoy your comments and work you do for small business-Thanks for your efforts!

I have a new blog with WordPress and am enjoying myself although I find writing challenging. I started reading your posts after a Mike Marchev recommendation. My blog, such as it is: http://travelchoice.wordpress.com

      Hi John:

I have always been unclear of the impact of a blog platform switch to incoming links … knowing that you have invested a HUGE amount of effort and time into building your readership and ranking, will all incoming links remain intact as you migrate to the new system?

I have pondered a switch from Typepad to Wordpress myself, but was wary of having to start link-building from scratch.

Templates look great! Can’t wait to see the new look live.

      Great template!

      Hi John,

John, I’m sure you will be very pleased with the versatility of WordPress. From a small business perspective WP is getting to the point where it can even replace a traditional web site all together.

I’m even starting to see some prominent A-list bloggers who’ve long been on other platforms switching to WordPress.

Great looking theme, too. I’ll be sure to take it for a spin.

    10. John Jantsch on June 23, 2007 Jun 23, 07 | 6:10 pm

      Chris,

Yes, is it a blog or is it a web site or is it simply publishing content and leveraging a web presence?

WordPress does seem to be the tool of choice these days.

    11. CA on June 27, 2007 Jun 27, 07 | 4:56 am

Congrats on moving to Wordpress. No complains overall with that blogging platform. The best part of using Wordpress is there are so many plugins available (and it’s easy to go overboard too). I have replaced my website with the blog altogether thanks to Wordpress.

Hi John, I am just super impressed with all of this great content you have. I really want to figure out a partnership now. Also, great move on Wordpress. We built Http://www.MyTypes.com on Wordpress.

I love this theme. I noticed a difference right away when I used it with all of the Link The Planet sites. I changed the images and a few colors and some of the code but overall this is the greatest and easiest template to have on your Wordpress Powered Blog.

You can check out the alterations on Link The Planet,
      podcasts.linktheplanet.com and blog.linktheplanet.com

Nice template! The convergence of web site and blog continues: 3 years from now, will this simple distinction still operate? The internet is becoming a conversation, and that tide carries everything in its path.

    20. Roy on November 10, 2007 Nov 10, 07 | 11:14 am

What a nice theme. Hmm.. I like it very much but I guess I will have it done with my new blog as my current blog has already got a great theme. Thank you for sharing it free. Appreciate it.

It’s simplicity makes it a very pleasing design for business theme sites. Hope you could also come up with another layout.

      Cheers

Wow, that’s a great theme. Thank you. There needs to be more small business tools / themes, etc. out there so that we can spend more time working on the small business and less time with the technical details. Thanks!!!

I have a hard time finding simple easy to read templates, but I’m learning that they are not as complicated as they seem and everyone should try tweaking them.

Like the other commenters, I have had a hard time finding a WP theme that presents my business correctly. It seems that most blog themes are variations of the same old thing…

Thanks for sharing a FREE! theme that just might work for me on the sister site to my current business (which I paid handsomely for btw).

      Regards!

Thanks for this layout. It will definately be something I can use. Themes in business really help to narrow your marketing. Appreciate it!
