John,
Another site that people can use for business advertising is usedvancouver.com
and there are a number of other ones in the USA- http://usedseattle.com if you go to one of these sites they list them all at the bottom. All postings are free with free picture uploads and the advertising space for the individual catagories is quite reasonable in respect to the amount of traffic.

I am a Internet Business and Marketing Strategist and Developer and
while doing some extensive research in the past year concerning Internet marketing "locally" I did a comprehensive competitive analysis of local news portals and locally targeted Internet advertising media including free classified ad sites, but more specifically those integrated into significant social or popular portal sites with local content offerings.

My findings lead me to conclude that there is a resurgence of local classified ad sites. I have been developing businesses and marketing for Internet start-ups for the past 14 years and I have seen interest in classified ad sites come and go. However my recent findings show an aggressive trend to duplicate the success of Craiglist but not only on large social sites but on local news and community portals as well.

Even the software application developers are turning out new and improved clones of Craiglist as well as MySpace clones. Many of the applications that I reviewed and compared in my study of local Internet marketing revealed that many of the Blog community software emulating MySpace or YouTube.com now include classified ads or offer modules. So in conclusion with the advent of these applications being readily available
I do think we will see more and more portals, competitors, and social sites offering free local classified ads.
