  • The three step search engine optimization plan

Harness the InternetYou can find reams and reams of digital paper used up on the topic of search engine optimization (SEO). Unfortunately, much of it is either garbage, dubious in nature or overkill.

The typical small business won’t benefit from the latest way to scam the search engines. The typical small business actually doesn’t have that much competition for search traffic so really just needs to concentrate on doing three things consistently. Three things that, in my opinion, won’t change much as the Internet continues to evolve.

    1. Discover the actual words and phrases that prospects use to find a business like yours and build them into your key page elements – (title tag, H1 tags, anchor text, urls) use tools from Google, Yahoo and services like WordTracker. (Use this link to get 15% off Wordtracker annual subscription)
    2. Create lots of freshly updated, relevant, education based content around these phrases – blogs, articles, and press updates are great for this.
    3. Find ways to get high quality, relevant and organic links back to your site – directories, associations, partners, online networking and social network profiles are great places to start.

Actually, if you want a no BS, practical guide to how to do every element of this plan check out Harness the Internet.

    • It's ironic that you introduce the post by saying that most SEO information is garbage but then pass off your 2nd and 3rd tips as being helpful (your 1st tip is good). Of course you need to create relevant content. Of course you need to find ways to get links back to you. Neither of these are news flashes. To win a basketball game, you need to score more points than the other team, too. Everybody knows that but we need to know *how* to do that. Give us something we can implement now!
    • As someone who does run a small business website, there is a little bit more involved. We received the biggest bump in traffic by site structure changes and use of nofollow tags to pages that were unimportant to search engines. And Wordtracker doesn't work for some industries, especially those that are relatively new online. We sell window and door parts online. Wordtracker was basically a waste when compared to our own stats.
    • For your keyword research try using KeywordSpy - a keyword research technology that will help you know what keywords your competitors are using and how it generates money for them, you can use those keywords to drive traffic to your site and give your business the exposure it needs. It offers Free trials.

It goes with a ClickBank Affiliates Search Engine where you can see the actual market landscape at ClickBank.

      Hi,

Search engines favor fresh content and having a frequently updated blog keeps your pages changing all the time.

But, another way of increasing page rankings is by structuring the content of your pages in ways that are liked by search engines.

Here are two programs that can help a blogger to secure higher rankings for his/her pages.

One of the softwares that I've found is RaSof, an On-Page Ranking Factors Software. RaSof can help improve your Search Engine ranking by 40%, claims the seller of the software, James Brausch.

The software analyzes your site and suggests different ways to increase the ranking of your pages.

Another useful software is Nemeas, a Site Ranking software, which rates your pages, and shows where your page stands in relation to other pages.

Using these programs you can increase the ranking of your pages in the major search engines. A higher ranking means that your page will be listed higher on the search pages, increasing the chances of someone clicking on the links to your page.
    • Those 3 steps are definitely cool and effective, Thanks for sharing that one to us.
