I’m playing around with video blogging and using video in general in anticipation of launching my own small business social networking site called The WorkBench. (There will be more on that soon.) Here’s a post from a few days ago in video format. Let me know what you think. (I think!) You can embed this clip on your site or in your blog if you like by copying the code that comes up when you hit the steal this tab below the movie.

Great idea, John. As the video was running I was scrolling through the rest of the web page, so (for better or worse) folks will be able to do a bit multi-tasking while listening.
Interestingly, my first attempt at viewing was unsuccessful as the video kept stalling. At the time I had 5 other tabs open, so I closed them all and gave it another go and it was just fine. However, prior to this I had been watching videos from other sites with all those tabs open and had no problem. (My internet is high-speed cable, for whatever that’s worth.)
Most importantly, it’s a spot-on message delivered with clarity, simplicity, and brevity. Short attention spans and all that.
Cheers,
Amy
Thanks Amy, Snack size is all the rage these days!
Great job with the video. We are involved in video production and I believe you are on the cutting edge of a method of communications that will become more important and effective for small to mid size businesses. Your face and voice delivers the message in a way that is clearer than the written word only and it really brands you in the way you want to be branded by making you likeable and trustworthy because we see a real person. BTW, we are using your “Duct Tape Marketing” as our text book for building our marketing plan and follow you blog posts on a daily basis. Thanks for the information you have shared and keep up the good work.
Awesome John.I love your pragmatic laser-like style of getting to the heart of the matter in creating profitable businesses.I definitely enjoy video messages along with the written word definitely follows the V.A.K. in which we truly learn.
Thanks Alex - there is both a real need to feed the senses and a real balance of what’s too much. That’s the trick I think.
Good stuff - Adding video to your marketing mix is absolutely neccessary moving forward.
Video is a complex marketing concept as so many things come into play, including how it impacts your brand and how that can potentially change the relationship with your customers.
Liked the graphics you added too, good work! Keep up the good work.

Great piece. I recently wrote an article about this very topic. It spells out the 8 “secrets” to boost your brand — and subsequently your sales. You can read it here: http://www.articlesbase.com/marketing-articles/8-secrets-to-boost-your-brand-and-your-sales-244175.html
