I definitely have dreamed about work and even difficult issues dissolve themselves (and of course waking up going *awww* because I realize it was all a dream).

Here are my answers to those stats:
MMM I vaguely remember that last vacation (over 1 year ago).
I think I am going to work more toward increasing sales result.
I am a little bit surprised that people don’t at least blog. It’s a great tool to establish yourself, SEO and meet new people~
I did make new year’s resolutions, but they are more like goals: to increase productivity, sales goals and more defined personal time.
Last one, I am SO guilty of this! But I am working on it!

This post hits it right on the nose! What you’re talking about in this post is exactly why I strive to build my business on a daily basis because the minute you start dreaming about work, that means you’re spending too much time there! Many of us spend more time at work than we do with our families and to me, that’s not the life.

My work has been known to invade my dreamworld at times. Your dreams can sometimes solve problems you’re having difficulties with while awake. So its not always a bad thing.

I’m really surprised by some of the business stats, especially about how few businesses have incorporated “new media” into their business. Social networking can be time-consuming (and fun) but if done right the payoff can be enormous.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Here’s my Gandalf Strategy against sleepworking. Hope it works for you guys.

Every night, when I walk back home from work, I cross the same street. It’s pretty near my flat. On approaching the street, I play a small fantasy experiment with myself:

1. My thoughts about work and stuff that needs to be done are Balrog, the evil monster from Lord of The Rings.

2. The pedestrian crossing is the narrow bridge in Moria, on which I put myself as Gandalf (yay!)

3. The other side of the street can only be reached if my thoughts about work stay behind.

It’s a bit nerdy, but it’s worked so far.

John,

Not only do I work in my sleep — for years, it’s where I’ve tossed problems that I just wasn’t solving during waking hours.

This includes writing code, analyzing data, and coming up with unique and effective marketing campaigns.

Just because I’m asleep doesn’t mean I can’t be working. Now if I could just get my employees to do the same (or, in some cases, to be awake while they work!).
