Hey Deborah, sounds like you are still knocking them dead - great work.

BTW: I just signed a contract to come back to Corporate College East for the 2nd annual. Looking forward to seeing you there

Great minds. I just shared on my blog, learns from a state of the web address I attended last week and of all the take aways, Local Search, was the number one piece of information.

Even if a company doesn't have a website or blog, they can still register with the local directories and have some web presence. Of course adding local references in their web content is a must!

I have to be honest - I already learned this last May when you came to Corporate College East - it was part of your speech and was the one goal I selected to complete within a week - your challenge to the audience.

However, since last year there have been more directories and more places to register - it is something worth staying on top of.

Todd, nobody can tell for sure but I will tell you that there seems to be some relationship to reviews.

Get your entire profile updated fully, link to your profile from your website and encourage some friendly reviews of your profile (there is a link right on the map) and through Insider pages, Judy's Book and the Local.com - Google picks up the reviews from these sites.

I noticed this the other day. Do you know one can increase his or her ranking in the top 10 list?

Webster - deadly might be premature, but it is nice to see real businesses listed as opposed to the lead services that spent heavily on collecting the traffic only to resell it to mom and pop in much less valuable forms.

This move is a deadly blow to big aggregator sites feeding off of long tail geotargeted queries. This will be a big win for mom and pop shops, and legitimate businesses with actual locations.
