  • Are Your Affairs In Order

Entrepreneurs can be a bit scattered in their ‘just get er done’ mentality,” he said from experience.

Affairs OrganizerI think you know who I’m talking about. If you own a business, you are likely going a hundred miles an hour, making decisions on the fly and, if you’re like me, organizing all of the important stuff in one place – your head.

That’s why when Mark Gavagan sent me a copy of his workbook, The Affairs Organizer, I thought this is a tool every entrepreneur should know about. (It’s great for any family really, but I see the business application clearly)

This book is an easy-to-use, comprehensive tool for organizing your life and getting your business, personal, and financial affairs in order. If something happens to you, you’ll spare those you love from endlessly searching for important documents & assets and trying to piece together all of your vast and varied business commitments.

My wife and I are celebrating our 25th Anniversary this month and, although this is a rather unromantic way to celebrate, documenting this kind of info is one of the most thoughtful gifts I can give her. (Don’t worry I got her a really cool tandem bike too – but don’t tell, it’s a secret.)

Disclaimer: This is not an affiliate link or sponsored deal, I just think this is so important.

    • Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!

Who's going to be riding up front? - my guess is if you've got a great 25 year marriage, it might be her!

Building a business is a process - seemingly never ending - and getting one's affairs in order is so often such a big, hairy, undefined mess, that it sounds like this workbook would be a great tool to add structure to the process - I'll be picking up a copy for my family, and a friend who is putting her family's affairs in order.

      Thanks for the tip!
    • Congratulations and best wishes for the next 25.

I will order The Affairs Organizer. My wife has always been uncomfortable with this topic, as many people are. A good friend sent me "Essential Document Locator Checklist.pdf, but it wasn't an organizer.

      Thanks!
    • congratulations john! i am actually launching my company soon, we have a beta users at the moment and it is certainly exciting. you are correct thought, i am definitely thinking 100 miles an hour. I think it's important to have someone that can keep you in line.

I'll check out the affair organizer.

    • Many congratulations on your anniversary to you and your wife! The importance of having your affairs in order cannot be overstated...and it ought to be organized far in advance of impending old age. My parents actually did that and told me and one of my brothers where to find info if ever needed. It was needed after my mom passed away two years ago. Dad passed away in the late 1990's and mom did a good job keeping information up-to-date so that when I needed to close out her affairs, it was all there. Thank you for posting such a good reminder. - Linda
    • Congratulations on your anniversary! Both the bike and the book (and the information it will centralize) are GREAT gifts, and so important. Well-done, and celebrate well!
    • Congrats! In one of my other lives I am an estate planning attorney so I applaud you in getting things in order .... and of course, I think it's super romantic !
