I love HARO, and use it all the time to pass out opportunities for clients or readers. In fact, I get so much pleasure from it that I may be a closet PR person. God forbid!

I actually got on the local ABC channel here in Phoenix regarding a story on home security. It has nothing to do with my business, but my alterior motive was to learn the process of tv, get to know the producer and local anchors. All happened, and as fate would have it, as they were at my house filming the segment, we started talking about 4-hour workweek and tons of biz-related stuff. The reporter who interviewed me (who is also the main evening news anchor) said "please pitch me stories!"

Music to my ears. :)

I love Peter's style -- I am going to include him in the book as a great example of brand spirit.

This is great information. I just wrote a post for real estate agents about promoting past clients' businesses as a way of generating good love back in the form of referrals.

But your idea takes it to the next business by actively sending possible press/business opportunities their way.

Great idea!

I think there is also another benefit here. You can put together a great resource of freelance writers, and what write about. This can be an invaluable research tool for building up profiles of reporters in your niche. Certainly useful if you want to pitch an idea to them later on.
