I agree with all this John. I also think that most people agree this is the thing to do. In fact, I just re-blogged a Mitch Joel post, Six Pixels of Separation, that says the Digital Savvy Agency is what people are looking for.

But with applications and sites popping up all over the place, Our marketers turning into the auto-makers of years past. Is each application taking a Chevy into an Buick into a Cadillac. Or individual models changing year to year to out date without providing real value.

I see this and think how important Ideal Client, Target Marketing and Differentiation are. Without it, can small business stay up? Does anyone else see that message in this?

As a recent iphone convert one of the first apps I played with was Vicinity which pulls data from Yahoo local, photos panoramio and flickr all using GeoTags.

Loved the technology, but it worked as a referral mechanism to local stores while on holiday in the UK. Finding the local restaurants and food outlets became a dream.

The one lesson I take away is it is amazing how far this data goes. It is re-used, re-packaged to make so many new services and application that it is worth sowing some geotagged seeds out there.
