Mari SmithAs social media and social network sites such as Facebook grow in popularity and utility for business, it’s no wonder that professionals are building businesses around showing other professionals how to get the most bang for their social networking buck.

For a recent episode of the Duct Tape Marketing podcast I spoke with Mari Smith who has built a following as a relationship marketing specialist and Facebook business coach. We explored many of the ways that business people are finding to connect, engage and actually sell in a social media environment.

I’ve written a great deal in the past about this subject, including my top 10 business applications for Facebook that is one of my most popular posts. This category is not going away and the more people can focus on understanding how to meet marketing objectives through the use of various social media the better.

AT&TThis episode of the Duct Tape Marketing podcast is brought to you by att.com/onwardsmallbiz. Resources for the small business owner.

    • I love @marismith. I follow her faithfully on Twitter - as I to @ducttape. I can't wait to listen. You've given me a good excuse to go for a long walk.
    • I took her pod class and found it to be a good overview that gave me some insights I didn't have.
    • Mari's the bomb! You'll love her facebook advice, as it's clear, concise, and to the point.

      Mari, you rock girl!

    • Good advice and great strategies for using social media. I actually add a new strategy each month and if by the end of the month if it is a struggle to use and not fitting in, I drop it.

P.S. Unless, of course, I get a customer from it, then struggles may be overlooked! And it gets a 2nd chance!
    • Thanks, was looking for something like this from Facebook.

    • Mari Smith adds value to my Facebook growth and overall Social Networking/Social Media bottom line! She is professional and has plenty to offer anyone willing to be social and ask the question.

It nice to see a great post about a great person. The Duct Tape Blog is an awesome source if useful tips and information.

      Thanks,

    • I have begun to receive more and more friend invites from contacts that I have not spoken to in years. Although i rarely visit my facebook account. I think more professionals are realizing how strong of a communication medium social networking sites like FaceBook Have become
    • Mari Smith has an amazing grasp of Facebook and Twitter and she is totally devoted to a life of learning. Her travel schedule proves that she is constantly moving from one conference to the next constantly seeking to stay on the cutting edge of both of these areas (plus others). I love her style. I feel so lucky to have met both you, John, and Mari Smith this year. In the first 20 seconds of meeting Mari, she taught me something new about twitter at Blog World Expo in Las Vegas. She's also very easy to approach (just like you). Thanks to both of you for being authentic and inspiring leaders in your industry.
    • Mari does a great job but Facebook is not the b all and end all. I recently saw a President of an International Digital agency described as a fail because he didn't have a LinkedIn profile. A professional should have a LinkedIn presence at the very least. Facebook is simply the icing on the cake.
    • Mari Smith, the Facebook guru! Really enjoyed the tips and strategies for getting started on Facebook correctly as well as ideas for maximizing your exposure! (just wish I had these last year!) Facebook and Twitter have proven to be huge assets for my network! Spend quality time developing your social media platforms as it will pay you dividends in the future!
    • John,

Thanks again for this great interview and the opportunity to contribute to your listeners. I really appreciated your line of questions.

It was a pleasure chatting with you about my fave topic!! ;)

      Cheers,
      Mari
