  • Answer Questions Get Search Traffic

Keyword research tool Wordtracker recently added a cool free tool called Keyword Questions. I think this has some great SEO potential for small business marketers.

keyword questions Search engines have gotten really good at returning results for anything people want to know, so a growing number of people search by simply asking questions. What is marketing? How to install WordPress widgets? How to make a duct tape wallet?

The idea Keyword Questions is that you can put any keyword of phrase in its search box and it will return a list of the actual questions people are asking about that topic and some measure of the volume. Using this tool for all of the various terms related to your business could spark some great and very specific ideas for creating blogs posts and pages that address and are optimized for these exact questions.

I am often asked why business owners would want a blog and this is a great reason. People may not be looking for another blog to read, but they are searching for answers to questions and challenges and getting good at answering those exact questions is a fabulous way to use a blog to build business.

    • This is a great tool. As I think about it probably 75% of my searches anymore are of the who/what/when/where/why variety. This should help internet marketers tap into others doing the exact same thing.

      Thanks for passing this along,
      Matt
    • @Matt - I know, you are not alone.
    • Hi,

This idea is really great. People will always be interested in "How To" or "What is" type of thing. Knowing what exactly generated high search volumes can be very helpful in deciding what content to produce.

      Thank you
    • I think it is a great "next step" for search engines and a natural part of writing good blog articles. Many of my blog articles strat off by trying to answer various "why" and "How" issues with online marketing.
    • A correspondingly good idea, which you may have covered in previous posts, is to browse Yahoo Answers or the new Mahalo Answers to get inside the collective questions on your market's mind.

Then post genuine answers and establish yourself as the credible authority.
    • This is a really good idea. i think people ask questions in search engines all the time. I see a lot of questions as search terms in my blog stats.
    • Hi All,

You can get into the minds of people, establish yourself as an expert and get great eposure also by commenting and answering questions on forums.

In this day and age the only resource for, practical, hands on technical support for many things (like all the web 2.0 properties including wordpress for an example) comes through the good will of others on forums.

These have becme very useful "communities" that many depend on. I know I have come to accept certain people as authorities due to their answers on forums.

When you do this you are also contributing, people will get to know you and many times be there when you need them too.

If all you are lookng for is exposure you can also ask questions on forums about many things. Noone is expected to be an expert on everything. In many cases while getting the help you need (and establishing yourself as a real person) you are able to leave links or at least direct people to your site somehow in the areas that you can help them. This works particularly well when what you have to offer appeals to a wide range of people across many markets like I do generating, quality, targeted business leads for companies.

    • Good job John. I tried searching for travel related questions and got relevant questions I believe I could definitely answer. Thanks for a great article.

      Happy new year!
    • How to make a duct tape wallet? Good question.
Thanks for this excellent idea. (Sounds a little silly now, but I never search in the form of a question.) Similarly, it never occurred to me to answer questions on my blog...How to whatever. Thanks for the pointers.
    • It is really Great tool. I asking the design related question. I got the relevant answer. Thanks For Sharing information.
