  • Twitter People Search is Back

Consider subscribing to my blog's RSS feed. It's sticky

Search on twitter is a great way to find people based on content. The type of search that’s long gone missing though is a search based on a person’s name.

Last week search by name came back and works very well. Here’s a search for John on twitter - I find I’m in the #8 spot (ranked by followers) right behind John McCain, whom I suspect I’m gaining on!

    • I'm definitely happy that this is back. I will not have to use the Google to find people anymore.
    • I agree that you are gaining on Senator McCain...

Search.twitter.com is the most under utilized tool in Social Media. Most new comers to Twitter never even try out the search leaving them in the dark.

@Allin - I agree - twitter would be sort of useless for me without the search feature
    • Holy Smokes! I underestimated your tweet! Looking at the John's list was amazing. There are only Three JudyAnn's and those others are 'sorta' twitterers.

      Thanks!
    • These are good to know:

      https://twitter.com/search/users
(find users based on username, first or last name)

      http://search.twitter.com/
      (find people based on content)

      Wish there was:
      https://twitter.com/search/location
(find all Twitters based on location, city)

Is this available, or how do you find fellow Twitterers where you live?
    • John Jantsch
      @Randy - you know there is - http://www.twitterlocal.net/
    • Thanks John - figured you'd know
    • You'll unseat McCain soon, then Edwards. Jantsch for President! Oh wait, this is just Twitter... for now.

Twitter will not let me play with their name search feature unless I have an account although their general search feature (search text of tweets) is open to all. I'd like to play with it but I'm not a twitter sort of dude. BTW, I note you have a twitter ID field in the comments section. Is this site now affiliated with twitter?
    • John Jantsch
@Joe - just create a twitter account - it's free and you don't ever have to be a twitter kind of guy to have it. no this site is not affiliated with twitter other than as an active user.
    • I agree with a few here - twitter is useless without the search feature.
    • Search.twitter.com is a social utility thing.
    • @MarketingTwins-Randy we just launched a twapp that shows tweets about the weather and allows users to search by location. We'll be happy to add a simple "search by location" to the next version of Tweeteorology. Other suggestions are welcome as well.
    • I just joined Twitter and find it interesting but have yet to grasp its purpose!
    • twitter without search is nothing , now twitter is a life again
    • thanks for the post!

      I just recently find it.
