I used to update the year manually every January; got tired of it and a few days ago, used the php code. Worked great!

@Mark – Our copyright notice also has a static component (2004-xxxx). It’s a subtle way of reminding visitors how long the website has been up. As John said, it’s a pretty little thing in the scheme of things.

@Mark – I don’t see anything wrong with it, although it’s not as common. I don’t really do this for any real protection, it’s more that people see this year’s date and know the site is active – it’s a pretty little thing in the scheme of things.
