I conducted a live webinar billed as Twitter for Business Essentials.

twit1You can listen to the recorded audio by clicking on the this link – Listen to Twitter for Business (or right click and Save As to download to your desktop – warning: 53 mgs and about an hour long)

In addition, you may want to pick up this handy guide that has all the links and resources we discussed. Click here to download the 20 page guide – Twitter for Business Guide

Here’s the agenda for the call so you get an idea of the content – we started very basic but escalated to some more intermediate topics and tools.

    • What is twitter?
    • Some basic stuff
    • Why use it
    • Who do I follow?
    • What do I say?
    • Search is the thing
    • Managing twitter
    • Misc tools

    And, as if that weren’t enough . . .

Here are the slides from the event as well,

    • Thanks this is good stuff. What do you think of tweet deck? is it necessary?

    • It depends on what you want to do on twitter - for me it would be very hard to imagine participating the way I do without a desktop app to sort and keep track of what I'm watching and doing.
    • Hi John,

Seesmic Desk top looks promising with cool features.

What do you think about Seesmic Desktop over TweetDeck?Especially when you have multiple accounts-business and personal twitter account.

      I would appreciate your thoughts.

    • Nash, the feature you mentioned, the ability to manage multiple accounts will make Seesmic more appealing to some for now.
    • Nice twitter resource; thanks!
    • This is great John. I really like what you're putting together these days in helping businesses understand social media and how to engage with their market. I just spoke the other day at our local TV station about the Internet as a culture and not just a technology.
    • John, I loved the podcast. I have been sharing it with friends and will post it to a squidoo lens I have developed to help baby boomer entrepreneurs with twitter. You shared things that were totally new to me and I have been working hard to keep up with twitter. Thanks for a great set of resources.

    • Thanks John. Just starting to understand the potential of twitter as a communication/conversation tool.
    • I don't think you mentioned OutTwit by @TechHit. http://www.techhit.com/OutTwit/

Let's you incorporate twitter into an application you already know how to use - Outlook (2003 or 2007). Sort by name, date, flag, category and so forth, as well as save RTs and DTs with other sent messages; copy tweets into calendars, journals and tasks. Easy to install and use, IMO.

Windows Users Tip: Before installing any program be sure to create a System Restore point. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. If you happen to install a corrupt file (or the installation otherwise messes up your registry) restore back to this System Restore point and get back your working PC.
