In the writing and marketing groups to which I belong, most of the "discussions" are people vainly shouting at the sea, trying to be heard. In most cases, the discussions are links to blogs, so the threads evolve outside of LinkedIn. There's nothing wrong with that, but I suspect LinkedIn was hoping that the back-and-forth would stay in their yard. I think the Groups function is overrated.
