Small business

1. Often we forget the little guy, the SMB, in our discussions of the comings and goings of the Internet marketing industry. Sure there are times like this when a report surfaces talking about their issues and concerns but, for the most part, we like to talk about big brands and how they do the Internet marketing thing well or not so well.

2. The Center for Media Research has released a study by Vertical Response that shows just where many of these ‘Main Street’ players are going with their online dollars. The big winners: e-mail and social media. With only 3.8% of small business folks NOT planning on using e-mail marketing and with social media carrying the perception of being free (which they so rudely discover it is far from free) this should make some in the banner and search crowd a little wary…….

www.onlineuniversalwork.com

It's great to see tools like this. More small and large businesses are building fan pages to engage their customers but issues like generating content seems like a high-bar to most.

I tried Involver and I am still trying to figure what it is that you like so much. The applications are very limited, even if you pay the ridiculous price for the premium version.

For example, take a look at branding. If you pay for the premium you can upload a logo....in fixed size. If, for example, you want to conserve some space for content you are out of luck. I asked about this on GetSatisfaction over a month ago. No answer. How hard could that possibly be to change?

How about the Youtube app? Why can't you select which videos are featured?

Why does the RSS application shove the full link into the headline? Don't you think that looks a little amateurish?

And they want how much a month? For that price, they could browse GetSatisfaction once or twice a week and answer some questions.
