Thanks for sharing this information! This will make social media much more accessible and convenient to use, as well as bringing in more users to networks. This is definitely going to be one of those advances where once implemented, we wouldn't know what to do without it!

I think the majority value here won't be integrating social features into outlook, or providing a central aggregation point for everything - it'll simply be the act of demystifying social media for the end user.

For instance, there's this friend of mine that's wanted to get into internet marketing for a while, but always thought it was too complicated. But when I actually explained affiliate marketing and list/lead generation in terms she understood, it clicked, and she was amazed at how easy the theory really was.

Same here - no "Social Graph" or "Influence Measurement" or Likes, Pokes, Retweets, Buzz Ups, none of that. Just a flat interface that actually brings the useful aspects forward.

And given that it's encroaching on corporate spheres now, we'll probably see less of the myopic noise that has plagued consumer SM for the last few years. People will in all likelihood still be very conscious of the stuff they post and share through OSC.

~ Wogan

No, not really - what they are doing is probably smarter and easier to do. Buzz is trying to create a new tool and new behavior. What this does with Outlook is deliver SM to current behavior. Buzz isn't anything like this and Buzz will never enter the Enterprise space like MS has.

They have a huge lead over GMail in corporate land. GMail is the one playing catch up and buzz won't impact most enterprise employees. Google is actually the one that's having trouble competing in this space.
