Hi John!
Always learn something new and helpful from your articles.
In this article, I was happy to see we are on the right track, already using some of your suggestions for helping websites to show up better in local searches.
Thank you for sharing some interesting sounding new ideas, too.
And really enjoying reading your book, The Referral Engine. Great concept; exciting reading.
Take care.

Great to see this article. I have already implemented quite a few of these into my website (which is still under construction) but has also given me some good ideas such as the RSS feed for individual cities! AWESOME! Oh and friend'd duct tape marketing!

Nathan Deneault
Atlas Coatings & Construction

I believe it is extremely important to get your business listed in the major business listings. It may take a little effort from the part of the business owner to input some information but it is really worth it. There are so many businesses out there that nobody even thought existed because they didn't spend a few minutes getting themselves listed on Google Places, Bing or Yahoo! Local.

This post makes some really great points. This is a simple yet, overlooked SEO strategy that may prove to be very helpful in generating some community awareness. The visibility of one's company in a local search can do plenty in terms of making consumers aware of your company's presence in a subtle manner.

Victoria Jones
blogs.vbpoutsourcing.com

"Take advantage of associations, including alumni, Chambers and networking groups as potential homes for your content and links."

If it's local, then it's more personal. I like that you suggest a structure where identity counts. Eventually, this could be a solution for larger companies as well; just like corporate firms that go local, but with added credibility. This may prove effective for both offline and online strategies.

Lloyd Burrell
Publisher
www.officedeskreviews.com

Local search gets even more complicated when you are a non-US business. Even some of these directories do not accept non-US addresses. I find we have to dig further to build the links. Has anyone else from Canada had better experiences?
