In a move that should offer further proof of the growing emphasis on local search, Google expanded the local listings shown on a geographic based search from three to ten. Hard to miss those local listing now. Make sure that you are working on getting yourself noticed in these types of searches by submitting and update your profile on the Google Maps local business center.
Hint: reviews on other local/social sites such as StumbleUpon, Craig’s List, Insider Pages, Judy’s book seem to be influencing the local search rankings.
