I’ve seen the future of interactive business books and it is Nancy Duarte’s Resonate for the iPad.

I’m a big fan of the presentation work of Nancy Duarte and I’ve had Duarte on my podcast to talk about her books Slide:ology and Resonate.

This week Duarte’s team launched Resonate as a Multi-Touch book built in Apple’s iBooks Author tool. Calling it a book in the traditional sense doesn’t do it justice. It’s more like attending a workshop rich in images, stories, video, lectures, and even quizzes, all perfectly displayed on the iPad’s stunning screen.

The book is available through the iTunes store and may be the best teaching tool on the subject of creating presentations that resonate ever created. (I guess you can tell I kind of like it.)

  • I’ve gotta say, it’s intriguing, but the video focuses on the delivery system and not the content. What am I supposed to get out of this book, with the “wow” factor of the vehicle aside?  What exactly is the content, and how is it supposed to help me?

    • Pamela Slim

Nancy Duarte is a world-renowned expert on presentation design and delivery. She is the coach for TED presenters, and has helped thousands of business professionals design powerful presentations. Resonate breaks down the content and story creation part of presentation design with very concrete, pragmatic steps. If you give live presentations, this interactive version of her best-selling book Resonate is a must-have. As you can tell, I am a massive Nancy Duarte fan, having studied her methods for years.

    • Kimberly – you’re right sometimes I write about these things and forget that not everyone has the context needed. I reviewed Resonate and interviewed Nancy – there’s a link in the post to that interview.

As Pam said this is one of the best books on creating presentations from the master. Duarte’s firm creates some of the highest impact and most engaging presentation out there. This book will give you the precise science behind presentations that resonate with audiences. The iPad format only makes it more useful.

  • “You have to create on an Apple machine. You have to sell only via Apple’s iBookstore. You can only sell these e-books to iOS readers because Apple hasn’t bothered to create apps that would facilitate reading on Android/PC/Web or anything other than iOS devices. Why would I bother with this if I was a self publishing author who can access [the] iBooks store through other channels?” said Eoin Purcell, an Ireland-based book publishing analyst.
